Intex Aqua Fish with Sailfish OS 2.0 and 2GB of RAM support launched, priced at Rs 5,499

Intex has launched a 4G enabled smartphone with Sailfish OS 2.0, called the Aqua Fish. The smartphone is priced at Rs 5,499, and is available in orange color.

At the MWC earlier this year, Intex unveiled a Sailfish OS 2.0 based smartphone, the Aqua Fish. The company had then revealed it will be launching the smartphone in India ‘within a few months’. Now, Intex has officially announced the launch of the Aqua Fish in India. Priced at Rs 5,499, the smartphone will be available via ebay.com. It will soon be available through Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon in the coming weeks.

Interestingly, it took about one year for Intex to commercially launch the Sailfish OS based smartphone after announcing a partnership with Jolla in July 2015. The company had initially aimed to launch a Sailfish OS based smartphone in November last year. Intex had said it would launch an under Rs 10,000 smartphone with 4G connectivity and Sailfish OS. Intex also happens to be Jolla’s first licensing partner for the operating system.

Intex Aqua Fish specifications

The smartphone features a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS display. Under the hood is a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, which is paired with 2GB of RAM. Also on offer is 16GB of internal storage, which can be further, expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

Intex Aqua Fish features

As expected star feature of the Intex Aqua Fish is Sailfish 2.0 OS. Built like Linux distribution, Sailfish is based on open source and is developed by Jolla  and the Sailfish OS community. The Sailfish 2.0 allows users to perform quick tasks through gestures. It also supports Android apps.
The Intex Aqua Fish comes with a pre-loaded Gaana Music app. The Aqua Fish also has other pre-loaded apps such as Jolla Store, Mail, Calendar, Tutorial, Notes, Snapdeal to name a few.
For photography, the smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front facing camera. On the connectivity front, the Aqua Fish supports dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, a microUSB port, G-Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Light Sensor. It is powered by a 2,500mAh battery, which the company claims is good enough to offer talktime of 6-7 hours and standby time of up to 20 days.

Looking at the specifications and price tag, the smartphone will face tough competition from the likes of Phicomm Energy 670 and Reliance Digital LYF Flame 1 among other popular entry-level 4G Android smartphones.

New Information About Google’s Allo Has Emerged

A week ago, reports emerged after a Redditor that had claimed to be a ‘third level beta tester’ for Google revealed that Messenger will be gradually phased out and that both Allo and Duo will be default apps on Android 7.0. It was also said that Hangouts will be phased out on mobile. XDA-Developers has since been contacted by a trusted source close to the matter, who wished to remain anonymous. We endorse the veracity of the claim given the source’s relationship to both XDA and Google. This source has revealed several key pieces of information about the future of  Google’s messaging apps and the claims made on Reddit: There is no such thing as a third level beta tester. There are Googlers, trusted testers, and friends and family. Neither Hangout nor Messenger will be going anywhere. Allo only supports Allo messages at this time, there is no cross-app messaging, Google Voice or SMS support. Whether you’re a Hangouts and Messenger fan or no...

OnePlus confirms no Nougat update for the OnePlus 2

After much speculation and wishful thinking from owners, OnePlus has officially confirmed to Android Authority that the Nougat update will not be delivered for the OnePlus 2. The refusal to update comes after promises of 24 months of update support in the past and an outright assertion from the company last year that the OnePlus 2 would get Android N. Nevertheless, OnePlus told that “customer service has been telling customers this for a little while” and that “we’re happy about what we’re doing with software. We already confirmed Android O will come for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. So [no Nougat for the OnePlus 2] isn’t new and we think people were aware of it.” This news shouldn’t actually be a surprise to anyone. A  post on XDA-Developers  back in May proves that the company has been informing customers of the OnePlus 2’s end-of-life situation, but only when specifically asked. If you’re keeping track, this means t...
